Update

Hello all, it's daddy's turn to update. Today has been a very interesting crazy day. Everything started out well today. Edwards was going good this morning so we decided to make a run home to pickup some more clothes and to finish up Edwards insurance paperwork. Everything with the trip home went well, Libby, our dog, who the neighbor is watching, was very happy to get to see mommy again. When we returned back to Denver and dropped in to tuck little eddy in for the night everything was looking really good. The doctors had decided to try a new way to hold his ventilator or at least the normal way for normal preemies. It a little plastic bar taped on both sides of the face that hold the tube in place so that it won't move up or down the wind pipe. normally this work great and it would allow mommy to be able to hold Edward sooner rather then later. Unfortunately due to Edwards cleft lip and pallet, the tube does not have a hard roof of a mouth to rest against and therefore can still move freely on its own with in his mouth creating play at the bottom end of the tube which placement is so carefully controlled. while we were at the hospital this evening when the nurses attempted to install what is called a pallet protector which would hopefully correct the free play of the tube by providing a solid artificial pallet. I'm not quite sure what exactly happen after the pallet protecting was installed but it very dramatically affected his heart rate and cause his o2 saturation to drop through the floor. With in about a minute there were 4 to 5 more doctors and nurses there and they quickly extibated him. (removed his ventilation tube) at which point we were asked to step out while they worked. They were able to keep him breathing and reintibated. But for now we will just have to stick with the tape holding the tube. Please continue to pray for Edwards beathing and everything related to it. Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers.

David
