looonnng day

so today was a really long day. I woke up and called the hospital and Carey his nurse said that he was not doing well so I called the shuttle to get a ride to the hospital and they said it would be 45 min so I freaked out but then I ran into a friend here at the Ronald McDonald house and she ended up taking me to the Hospital. I guess he was desating and bradying for 20 min. and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. they tried deep suctioning because they thought he had aspirated. they ended up bagging him but in the end they figured out one of the things was unplugged from the high flow. so in the end it wasn't his fault at all! once they plugged him back in he did fine. the rest of the day was pretty good he kept crying every time he lost his pacifier so I had to keep getting up and giving it back to him and he slept through his physical therapy. well that's about it... its pretty late and I'm exhausted... good night all!

tests

Hello everyone! so today was another pretty good day. Edward did Brady a few times and when I got there this morning his heart rate was 242 but it turns out he was crawling in his isolet and he got stuck so he was freaking out but as soon as we fixed him his heart rate went back to normal. He had a spinal x-ray and an adrenal ultrasound today (we are still waiting on the results) but they did them because they are starting to do some genetic testing because alot of time kids who have one birth defect (hi cleft) have other issues so they are running a bunch of test to make sure everything else is normal. On the good side of things they turned his high flow down again it is now 2 and he started at 3 and 1/2! He is really holding his own and proving all the doctors wrong! well that's about it I will post some pictures and videos (sorry they are so dark). God Bless!

Team Edward

So today was a pretty good day! Edward did amazing at trying to breastfeed. the only problem he is having is he keeps bradying because he can't coordinate sucking and breathing at the same time. Other than that it was a really good day no new changes. we bought his primary Donna a "Team Edward" pin from twilight but i thought it was perfect because she is of course on team Edward! we are also going to buy one for his other primary Carey! well that's it I'm going to keep it short and sweet because I need to get to bed! Goodnight! ~Misty
"of course I'm a pro at this whole sucking thing!"

back to sleep

Sorry about last night.

Sorry everyone, It was daddy turn to blog and I completely forgot about it. Well Edward is still doing very good. They are slowly weening him of the oxygen pressure. He went down to 2.5 liters rather then 3. Mommy has been instructed to start allowing Edward to attempt to suckle in an effort to start training him do breast feed. Normally they don't start this until they are 34 weeks but he is ahead of the curve, and started a few days ago when he was about 32 weeks. We still don't know if he will be able to due to his cleft pallet. Although a few days ago he yawned really big for us and we were able to get a good view of this pallet and if doesn't look nearly as bad as we thought it was. Also mommy dressed him up as a Cleavland brown, I will include pictures.
I will be leaving tomorrow to return home for a few days to take care of some work stuff. I will hopefully return Thursday Evening. Misty will be blogging for the next couple days.

another good day

So today was another really good day for Edward! They upped his feeds too 14cc's every 2 hour. We also tried a little breast feeding again and he did so awesome! he would suck for a minute then take a break for 30 sec It was so awesome! I am so proud of my little boy! also Dave and I had a fun day we went and saw the Harlem globetrotters! they had free tickets through the Ronald McDonald house. It was nice to have a small break from things. well that's about it i really need to get to bed because we have church in the morning and 2 of the kids from the Ronald McDonald house are coming with us! Good night all!

Still doing good.

Hello everyone, our little guy is still doing really good. He received his second bath today, but his is his first bath that he was really submerged in water. His oxygen has been lowered from 3.5 liters down to 3. He is still doing really doing well with his o2 Saturation even with the decrease of oxygen supply. He is currently 13 1/2in. and weighs 2 lb. 7oz. They have started to try to see if Edward will latch on with the use of a nipple guard, so far it look like there is still a chance that he will be able to breast feed. Well that's all the new I have for you all tonight. Thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers.

David
