so we are in Denver because Edward has a pulmonary appt. early in the morning and since there is a pool at our hotel we decided to take Edward for his first swim! he wasnt so sure about the whole thing! well thats it for now except please pray because Edward has to have surgery #9 on the 21st :( he has to have his nissen repaired... oh well good night all!

Aunt Dawn came to visit and help out!
Edward wasnt feeling very good but was doing better on saturday so we went to Armed forces day at the mall! Sunday took a turn for the worse and ended up in Denver in the hospital
we finally got to return home yesterday :( and are pretty worried about having to go back :( Edward has to get his nissen repaired because it is no longer working and he has an increased chance of aspiration so we are watching him pretty closely to make sure he doesnt aspirate :(

So Edward is out of surgery he is in the PICU and doing pretty well the only issue he is having is his blood pressures. he keeps waking up and whimpering it is so sad. please keep praying. here is a first look at his new lip and nose!

they started at 3 instead of 11 because another surgery went late but now he is in there and they say he is doing good and they are currently working on his lip

OK so heres the deal. Edward's surgery is tuesday :'( I absolutly don't want him to get his lip fixed because I don't want him to change even though I know he will be just as cute if not cuter after his surgery :'( but still I will be mourning his extra wide smile! ok so here are the details he has to be there at 9 for pre-op stuff and then his surgery will begin at 11am and they are expecting it to be 6 hours long (they are also doing another surgery to fix his manly parts plus ear tubes and an audiology screening while he is out) Here are my prayer requests:
1. he makes it through the surgery fine
2. he can come off of the ventilator quickly (he doesnt do so well with that)
3.that he is not in alot of pain afterwards
4.that David and I make it through this whole thing
5. that we get to come home quick and get back to our normal lives for Edwards sake
6. that Edward doesnt hate me because he has to wear those stupid "no-nos" on his arms for 3 weeks
7that Edward heals quickly

pretty much thats it. they are going to put him in intensive care right after because of his history with problems coming off the vent but hopefully he can get moved to a normal room quickly.

Edward is officially 1!!!!! I never thought we'd make it this far! I am so proud of my little man! Edward is now sitting up on his own and trying to crawl he gets around by army crawling :) he is making leaps and bounds! so this morning instead of our normal food for therapy we did a cupcake for his birthday and he absolutely loved it! he almost ate the whole thing! I was so proud of him I cried (just a little) God is Amazing! look at how far my miracle man has come!!!

Edward is getting so big! we went to Ohio for Christmas and had an amazing time and we really enjoyed getting to see all the family (even a few people we hadn't seen in a few years!) It was wonderful! Edward loved opening presents which makes me even more excited for next year when he is really aware of whats going on! Now we are looking forward to Edwards !st birthday...(AHHHH HE IS ALMOST A YEAR OLD!!!!!) Im so excited! He is making leaps and bounds and is sooo close to crawling! Actually tonight he figured out peek-a-boo it was soo cute he kept pulling the covers over his face and yanking them away and ten cracking up! I love my son! well I have tons and tons of photos to post but with our new camera Im going to have to re size them so bare with me! hopefully now that the holidays have settled im planning on trying to blog once a week! hope all is well!

hello everyone! its been so long since I blogged! Its been a busy month! we had some friends stay with us then Dave and I were both sick but by the grace of God Edward stayed healthy! the only issue we have had was he had an eye infection. some big stuff has taken place since I last wrote Edward got his first tooth and then his second! he lost a little weight so they uped his feeding olume and moved it to every four hours. he is rolling over all the time and has an amazing personality he even sings when you sing to him! it is too cute! The biggest thing that has happened though is that he is now able to eat baby food! he loves it so much and is doing great! well thats about all the updates we are planning on making a visit to Ohio for Christmas please pray that that goes well and that everything goes smoothly!!

sorry its been a while again! here is the update: Edward has been doing pretty well! the only problem we have really been having is he is getting alot of air/gas in his stomach. but other than that he is doing awesome! He is talking up a storm and he laughs all the time which is sooo cute! he is also starting to roll over more often and he loves eating his fingers and watching TV! He is getting so big if I would guess I would think he is about 15 pounds now! he is still really short a couple of weeks ago they measured him @ Wic and he was only 22 inches long. Oh well maybe he is going to be short like his mommy but hope fully he will be about his Uncle Rusty's size! well here are some great pictures we took and a couple of the Crazy snow we are getting here in the Middle of October! oh ps. the pictures are way out of order...sorry!

so Edward is doing good! we went to the plastic surgeon yesterday and they are wanting to schedule his surgery for March as long as we don't move before then! soo exciting! finally progress! also yesterday we stopped over @ university to see Carrie and all of Edwards other NICU nurses :) it was nice to see everyone! now we somehow have to see Donna since she hasn't seen him since he was in Children's NICU. oh well it was great to visit! and next time we hope we also get to see Sandi! well I better go Ive got a stinky diaper to change! good night!

So I was informed that Ive never written the story of Edward's birth on here... so for those of you that do not know the whole story this is how my miracle was born....

Tuesday February 10, 2009 10:00am
I went to the OBGYN for a follow up appointment because the week before I had gone to Labor and delivery 4 times because my contractions where getting worse and Edward wasn't moving a whole lot. well they never did an ultrasound they just monitored his heart rate and sent me home. well back to my appointment I go in and they try to find his heart rate with the little Doppler thing and they were having issues getting anything so they tell me everything is fine and he is probably just in the back of my uterus so they take me to another room and hook me up to the little thing that records the babies heart rate and shows contractions and they were still having a hard time so they say well there is no one in ultrasound so lets just go get a reading there (they still weren't concerned) so I get to ultrasound and the tech puts the thing on my belly and she says hmm... and I asked what is wrong and she said its not a big deal I will just have to get the doc when we are done so next she measures him and she is looking even more worried (oh btw they found his heart beat just fine) so then she starts to look at the blood flow from the umbilical chord and right as she is doing that I started contracting so then she says "I will be right back" so now I'm a little concerned... well she comes back with the doctor and they look at me some more and then the doctor tells me that my fluid is low and that Edward hasn't grown for 2 weeks and that when I am contracting Edward is getting no blood flow from the umbilical chord... so she tells me they are going to have to send me to Denver to be monitored because Cheyenne can't handle this... so she sends me up to labor and delivery to wait for a helicopter to come get me... well apparently the wind was too strong and they had to send an ambulance... so in the mean time they are hooking me up and I start to have issues breathing (a panic attack) and my blood pressure went through the roof (it was already getting higher and higher each appointment) so then they are worried about pre-ecclampsia.. well 2 hours later the ambulance gets there and first thing they do is give me a sedative because I'm freaking out a little... so I basically slept the whole 2 hour ride to Denver.. well we get there and they hook me back up to the monitors and the Doc and ultrasound tech come in and do an ultrasound and then they tell me that they are going to give me a steroid shot for his lungs and that I will get another one in the morning... well I am monitored for about an hour and then the shift changes and a high risk OB comes in to do another ultrasound and he does so for about ten minutes and then tells me that he is sorry but they are going to have to take me back and do an emergency c-section... well the first thing I asked was "how much of a chance that Edward will survive?" and the Doctor tells me about 5% and that he is so small that it is unlikely that they will be able to intubate him and they will try to revive him but it is unlikely.... so then he tels me they are going to put me out and I told him no so he goes and talks to the anaesthesiologist and they decide... OK I can get a spinal... well it took 9 times for them to get the spinal in and for it to work so then it is time to deliver Edward and I didn't even know he was out of me and then I start to hear them bagging him and then all the sudden it stops and I thought he was dead and then they are wheeling him out and they tell me that he is intubated and they are taking him to the NICU. well after they were done sewing me up they took me to the recovery room and I asked when can I see him and they tell me when I can move my toes so I try and try and try and in the mean time the NICU doctors come in and ask me what I want to do if he is in pain (keep him alive or let him pass) and we tell them we have to pray about it and then I finally move my toes and they wheel me to a room... so then again I ask "when can I see him?" and they tell me I have to be able to get into a wheelchair by myself.... (well crap I can just now move my toes) so then they let David go see him and he brings me back a picture on his cell phone... and finally I get into a wheelchair (mostly using my arms) and they are about to wheel me over to the NICU and another nurse comes in and tells me I have to wait because he pulled out his breathing tube...uhh I was panicked and about a half hour later (I just stayed in the wheelchair) they finally wheeled me in to see him... it was a total shock... he was the tiniest thing I had ever see... only 1 pound and 11 and 1/4 inches long) and he didn't even really look like a baby... it was soo hard! well the first couple of weeks of his life were soo rough we had alot of scares but he was a fighter and pulled through in the end! Edward is truly a miracle of God... the only thing that got me through all of it was prayer and support from David and all my family and friends...

Ok Im really sorry it has been a really long time since I posted.. it has been crazy around here! Edward has been sick and back and forth to the doctor (on base) everyday and at the lab getting blood work every other day.... so by the time i get home Im exhausted....so now for some updates.... We finally got respite care and it is working out great! our respite nurse is super awesome! the only problem is i haven't got any extra sleep because Edward has been sick and Ive been super worried.... its terrible I can be in the bedroom and he is in the living room with the nurse and I MISS HIM...I guess im just pathetic lol I wonder if I will ever let him stay over night somewhere for more than a night...i think its unlikely lol.... so yeah another update.... Edward is now 13 pounds 4 Ounces...CRAZY!!!!! he is getting big too quick! lol he is between 0-3 months close and 3-6! I never thought he'd fit in them lol. well I guess not alot more to repoert we have just been taking care of our sick little man... here are some pictures and videos from when Dave's parents were visiting a couple of weeks ago :)

so Edward is doing great! we have STRIDE coming out tomorrow to try and start bottle feedings again!!!!!!! yay im SO excited!!! Edward will be so happy! he also has an eye appt. Friday in Denver and a pulmonary appt. Monday in Denver (super early so we have to get up @ like 5 yuck!) well that about it hopefully we will know more about moving soon... until then here are some pictures :)

so yep Edward is doing pretty good now! he likes putting everything in his mouth! not a whole lot to report... the other night we had some friends we met in Denver (that also had a baby in the NICU) over for dinner and Edward and Spencer had a great time playing with each other! of course the first thing Spencer did was help Edward out by pulling out his cannula...i mean what are good friends for! Edward would have done it himself but he knew he wouldn't get in trouble if he let Spencer do all the work for him! any way we had a great time and Edward loved having someone his own size to play with! well that's about it here are some pictures from the last week or so!

sorry I don't update very often things are super busy around here! this past week Edward was sick but we stayed out of the hospital by going to see his doctor everyday which worked! he is also on some new meds he takes 5 meds in the morning and 4 @ night! plus abuderol (breathing treatments) every three hours! so yep Little E is a full time job! also this week I had some health issues which made me almost have surgery but man does prayer work! no surgery for me! I am however on pain pills which makes doing everything else much harder... oh well here are the new pictures from this week I usually update Facebook more often with pictures because I can send them from my phone.. so if you have facebook look me up (misty menken is what I'm under) happy picture looking :)!

so yep I feel like crap...but on the bright side Edward is doing good! although I can hear him breathing...not a good sign he is really loud... So the hope is that we get to go home tomorrow. we still arnt sure if that will happen but we are hoping. Edward is doing great and they have cut his lasex in half so we are crossing our fingers! We also really hope to be able to bring him to the preemie party at university tomorrow but we will see. we made a plaque for UCH's NICU to thank them for saving Edward's life with a special thanks to "Team Edward" :) well that's it for tonight hopefully I will have good news to report tomorrow... we will see.

so we are stuck here till at least Saturday most likely Sunday. I really wanted to show Edward off at the preemie party Saturday at university but I guess that's not going to happen. he is doing OK the only issue is he is still having a really hard time pooping so now they are going to give him prune juice. I'm really tired of being at the hospital and the doctor didn't make me feel much better because he told us to get used to it because it gets worse in the winter. I wanted to punch him.... anyway Edward doesn't even realize anything is wrong he is happy as can be! here are some pictures from earlier today.

so we thought we would be getting out today but we came in this morning and Edwards heart rate was through the roof (up around 200) and he is still on alot of lasex. so pretty much the doctor said that until he is weened from the lasex we are not going home :( that's about it i will do more in depth later!

so yep Edward is in the hospital again. same issues as last week. he seems worse though because he wont stop screaming. they think he just needs more lasex but we will see :(. hopefully things will get better. they said we will find out if we can go home after his doctor sees him tomorrow. they did say we can still go to our cleft appointment tomorrow even though he is admitted so that is a good thing! hopefully things will start to o better. goodnight all.

so Edwards CT came back and his lungs are very under developed and his airways are unusually small and thick. right now the only thing they are going to do about it is at home breathing treatments. so yep right now we are waiting on the docs to round to find out if Edward gets to go home today! we are hoping! I will update more later!

so Edward had his bronc today it went well but he isn't recovering as well :( there were some blockages they took care of and his airways are pretty small he also has very very premature lungs. well that's about it I'm trying to figure out how to put up the pictures I took with my phone.. we will see.. ~Misty

Edwards blood Gas was better but his chest x-ray showed that part of his right lung is collapsed and they did an echo but no results from that yet. they think the reason for the collapse in his lung is some blockage so when they do the bronc they will get a better look. well that's all for tonight good night all please pray!

So yesterday Edward had a pulmonary appointment and they did a routine chest x-ray/blood gas and well they were both terrible...so here we are again..back at children's. we are not in the NICU this time though we are up on the 9th floor in the pulmonary unit. so later today they are going to do a repeat gas and chest x-ray plus an echo of his heart (it looked enlarged in the last x-ray) so hopefully things have improved. we will be here until Tuesday at the earliest because the are going to do a bronciostomy on Monday to get a better look at his lungs plus an MRI just to see whats going on... pleas pray for him hopefully things will improve! I will try and blog more later after we get his results from today! until later...

sorry everyone it is so hard to post with Edward home because he takes up so much of our time :) and sorry for no pictures but for some reason our camera isn't working :'( but not to worry David just set up our web cam! so hopefully we will be online with that in the very near future! well that's all for now Edward is doing great! Dad Here, It been a little while since I posted. Over all everything here is going pretty good. Edward is doing really while with the exception of still requiring a lot of oxygen and sometimes needing extra effort to breath. Edward had a follow up with the surgeon today and everything looks pretty good in regards to he past surgeries. he also got his feeding tube port replaced which was good due to the fact that the old one was leaking. Edward is up to 10lb. 3oz. he is getting so big it crazy. Well I think that all the new I have for you tonight.

So today was Edwards first Independence day! it was a great day we had a cook "in" (it was raining) at our neighbors house and then it cleared up just in time for fireworks! well not a whole lot of news Edward is doing pretty great! Hello everyone, Not a whole lot to report. Edward is doing pretty good. Misty's Family is out here visiting which Edward really enjoy due to the fact that is almost always being held. Tomorrow he is getting his four month shots which we have unintentionally delayed. Edward really seems to enjoy walks and car rides so much so that he almost instantly falls asleep. Well I do have much more news for you but we update to when we do.

so Edward is home from the hospital again... I'm glad he is home but I don't think he was ready... I hate children's...hopefully we don't end up back there any time soon... oh and by the way Edward is 8 pounds 5 ounces! so crazy!!

Lets see what do we have to report. We are still waiting on the results of Edward's Cultures which will determine how much longer we are here. He is doing a little bit better on this oxygen and is still gaining weight. He now weighs 8lb 3oz. His IV keep failing and they keep having to giving him new ones. they have had to stick him 11 time today just to get 2 Good IVs. Depending what the Cultures say they may just give Edward a pic line rather then keep having to give him new IVs every day. Well I think that's all I can think of right now. We will post more as we get more news.

Edward is stable but still at a 1/4 of a litter of Oxygen which is pretty high for him a here in Denver. We are defiantly not going home tomorrow and are still waiting to hear if he really does have an infection. The doctors have also order a swallow study to see if he is getting to fluid in his lungs when he is trying to bottle feed. We have been told that having fluid in his lungs maybe a very common thing due to him having Chronic lung disease. He now weighs 7lb. 14oz just 2 oz short of 8lb. We that's it for now, we will update you all when we get more news.

So we took Edward to the ER last night because of his breathing. They ended up sending us back here to the NICU at Children's. we got here at 5 am by ambulance. Edward is way up on his oxygen. they did a chest x-ray and he has fluid in his lungs and a possible infection. we will be here till Sunday at least. please pray for Edward. Also please pray for me and David because it is really hard being back here :(

so today was a busy day Edward had an appointment with WIC and then we went to go get our new pulse ox monitor from apria. then tonight Edward has started desating alot and we turned up his oxygen and now we might have to go to the ER which I do not want to do because they wont do anything! Update from home 2

Hello all, dad here. Sorry we haven't been able to keep you all up to date on how things are here at home. As you all know bring a baby home is not the easiest thing in the world. But things are going ok. Last night was the best night so far sleep whys that is. Misty step mom flew out on Tuesday to help us. Edward is now 7lb. 5oz. he is really starting to look like a newborn. Today he had his follow up eye exam. So far everything looks pretty good but they still want to keep checking them at least until Edward is at least 50 weeks or 10 weeks corrected.

We are going to start doing our best to blog every few days rather then every night so that we can give our main attention to Edward. But will will still continue to update everyone as we get more news. Picture taking has taken a lower priority in the past days but I think we still have a few new one for all of you tonight. Please continue to keep Edward in your thoughts and prays as he still has some issues to over come. Also that we would be able to get enough rest to stay alive.

So we are Home. Sorry no update last night but it was one of the worst nights ever! Edward is not a big fan of "Home" all he does is scream. Last night we had to go to the ER because he kept desating and he screamed for an hour and a half straight! anyway it turns out his o2 tank wasn't working correctly so we got that problem fixed and we got a bunch more tanks today. in the end David and I got about an hour of sleep a piece. so needless to say last night was not so good! today has gone a little better Edward has donealot of sleeping today (of course!) and so David and I took turns taking a nap. oh well I think I might go crazy but my mom (Toni) is coming outtomorrow to help which is a big load off my shoulders... well that's it I need to try to sleep while I can... ~Misty

Sorry everyone, no big update tonight. mommy is staying at the hospital with Edward tonight, and then we get to take him home tomorrow. We will have a photo post tomorrow for all of you. Everything is going really well and we are really excited that we get to bring him home tomorrow. It will be nice to get into routine even if we have to come back to Denver like once a week for appointments. Well I am really tired and have to get up early to clean and check out of our room at the Ronald McDonald House. So that it for tonight we will have more tomorrow.

Sorry everyone, no photos tonight. I'm sure some of you will not be happy with me because of this but hopefully mom will have some for you tomorrow. Well today has been a very long day. The drove back this morning from home was pretty smooth. Today we meet with the company that will be delivering Edwards monthly G tube supplies. It looks like Insurance will be paying for some of his milk formula, which will be a incredible blessing. We also were able to finish all of the information movies that they require the parents to watch before they get to go home.(CPR, car seat safety, and home oxygen)

Well over all Edward has had a pretty good day. He past his car seat challenge (his Oxygen levels don't drop while he is in his car seat). He is now up to 6lb. 14oz.. He is huge to us. which is sad because he is still on the small end of full term new Born's. Edward has been extremely cranky today which is pretty odd for him he is normally very mellow. We think he just has a lot of gas build up in side his belly so hopefully by tomorrow he will have been able to push most of that out through the G tube when it venting. So it still looks like we are on track for going home on Monday. well that's it for tonight.

Today David and I came home to Cheyenne to get things ready for Edward and we ended up having too much to do so we ended up staying for the night and now I am freaking out because Edward is 2 hours away! anyway apparently he has had a really good day or so the nurse said over the phone! wow I am so glad he is coming home Monday because I won't have to be away from him anymore! well not alot to report because I was only at the hospital once today and that was this morning... I need to get to sleep because we have to leave here at 6 am because we have a meeting at the hospital at 8:30... good night all! ~Misty

So alot of news to report tonight since there was only a brief update yesterday. So Edward has recovered from his surgery well. And we have had alot of specialists and doctors stop by to see him in the last 2 days. so yesterday he was seen by Audiology because he had failed 2 hearing tests. well we have some sad news 1st they defiantly found fluid in his right ear so that means he will eventually get ear tubes. second in his left he has nerve damage so that means he may have some hearing loss in that ear. next we meet the cleft palate nurse and the occupational therapist who works with the cleft clinic and also the physical therapist. today we met the Ear Nose and Throat surgeon and the social worker & case worker. But there is some good news in all of this and that is that Edward passed his room-air challenge (he went for 40 minutes without oxygen with out dropping his sats too low or dropping his heart rate. so that means we will be able to go home on Monday as long as nothing happens between now and then! so Edward will be going home on oxygen, a monitor, his g- tube, the pump that goes with it, and possibly a suction machine! so basically we will have a NICU in our house! The only sad thing about this is that we will be coming back to Denver one or two times every week to see different doctors! well that's about it I need some sleep David and I are going to Cheyenne tomorrow for a couple of hours to get things ready! good night all and thank you for all the prayers! so today was an ok day Edward got an MRI this morning Sandi came to visit around 9. he got extubated around 1 then he got to start eating again at 5. and ENT (ear nose and throat) surgeon came and looked at Edwards cleft. then at 8 Carrie and Amanda (Carrie was Edwards day Primary at UCH and Amanda is another nurse who took care of him) came to visit!! well that's about it for today Edward had alot of ups and downs today so hopefully tomorrow will be a little better. oh and btw Edward is 6 pounds 10 ounces! well good night all sorry no pictures again but i only had 2 hours of sleep and I can barely function! good night all!

Surgery update

This has been a very long day to say the least. Thank God, All of Edward surgeries were successful and he did extremely well. He will remain on the ventilator at least until sometime tomorrow and more then likely longer. They have setup a mri to check his pituitary gland and a hearing check tomorrow morning. As I said it has been a very long day so we will have more new for all of you tomorrow.

Dad here again. Well today was Edwards last full day at University of Colorado Hospital. It was his last day with Sandi Another one of his favorite nurses. his day wasn't to bad, although he was having quite a few problems with reflux. But he will only have one more day of dealing with that. Tomorrow Edward will be move over to Children's hospital at 10am and his surgery is planed for 7pm. That have already started his IV and started giving him hydrocordazone. Also grandma will be returning home tomorrow. We will up date everyone as soon as we have news about the out come of his surgeries.

Hello all, Dad here again. Today was over all pretty good we were able to take Edward on two walks around the nicu again today. He really seems to enjoy getting out of his crib and being carried around. Tonight is his last night with one of his favorite (ours too) nurses Donna. But she promised to visit him at Children's Hospital so that good. He is also back up to 6lb. 3oz. witch is really good. Well that's really about it for tonight. so today was a good day! Edward had his last Friday night party with Donna and we got his foot prints and a bath. Hello everyone, dad here. Just a quick update for now mom has more photos to upload tomorrow. Edward will be moving to Children's Hospital and getting his surgery on Monday. Mommy got to take Edward on two walks around the nicu to day, both with completely different results. His first walk he sleep through and during his second walk he was all bright eyed and looking around. He now weighs 6lb. 3oz. and is no longer allowed to bottle feed at least until he recovers from his surgery. Well that's about it for tonight, We are all very tired and need to get some sleep. Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers. We greatly appreciate them as we are again starting starting to experience the intense moments of the crazy roller coaster ride.

so today has been a horrible day! the only good thing is that my mom is here! So today started off bad because I only got 4 hours of sleep last night. then I find out that Edward is having his upper GI, an eye exam, and an echo cardiogram. well the upper GI did not go so well and that means Edward now has to have more surgery. he is having this thing where thy take part of the stomach and tie it around the esophagus so that acid can't come back up. he also has to get a G-tube in is stomach (feeding tube) so yeah then my day gets even "better" we find out in order to do these surgeries they have to transfer Edward to Childrens. so my mom and I went over to childrens to tour the NICU and first off the charge nurse was rude and mean and second they have 2 types of beds at thier NICU; Private rooms and open spaces with no privacy. well then the nurse tells us he will have to be on a waiting list to get a private room unless there are special sercumstances. well I refuss to have an open space and I think Edward being in the hospital for 4 months already should be reason enough to just give him a private room. but whatever nobody cares how I feel! well then the next crappy thing that happened was I called the shuttle and he told me he could bring me back to the hospital at 6:15 because we have a meeting with the surgeon. so we get all the way back to the Ronald McDonald house and then he says oh sorry I can't do that it has to be 6:30 which won't work because the surgeon is coming and then we asked to be taken back and he couldn't because he has t drive to Denver! I am so angry! so any who then I get back to my room and see on the door that they are going to clean the carpets tomorrow and we have to be out of our room by 9 and we can't leave any valuables or anything on the floor... so yea I lost it! today is not my day! so now we have to find a ride back to the hospital and I really have no idea what to do about everything else... I'm just really done with this whole situation. I really don't know what I'm going to do without his nurses (Donna, Carrie, ad Sandi) they keep me sane! and from what Ive seen I already dislike the nurses at children's... please pray for my sanity.

so Edward had an OK day they lowered his liter flow to 1 liter and he did OK for the most part. He did Brady a couple of times but it was all due to reflux. he also didn't do well with nippling which is becoming more and more typical of him lately. they think its because of him getting tired so quickly and because of the reflux. but sometime this coming week the are going to do an upper GI to see what is causing it and to see if he is aspirating and if that could be causing his breathing issues. well that's about it he still weighs the same as yesterday. goodnight all!

Hello everyone, Dads back in town for a 4Day week end due to the holiday. Edward has had a pretty good day today. He got a bath in his new bath tub that mommy got for him. He also did really well with bottle feeding this evening. I was able to take 35cc. from his bottle which is really exciting. He currently weighs 5lb 15oz, just an oz short of 6lb. So its official.. Edward never wants to come home.. Every day he keeps getting worse... he is takiptnic (fast shallow breathing) and is looking really pale and tired all the time. His oxygen has been up to 40. the lasix are sort of working but he is getting another dose tonight so hopefully things start to improve. They are also going to check his red blood cell count in the morning to see if he is anemic and if that is causing everything. so please pray for my little man! he is 5 pounds 13 ounces! good night all! pictures tomorrow (i will post pics every other day) !

Not a lot to report today. Edward is doing better overall but still not a lot doing great with his bottle feeding. The good thing is he is still gaining weight. He is now 5lb. 11oz. and has been put on a diet. He is now getting 24 calories rather then 26 calories. That's about it I need to get some sleep because of church tomorrow. Hello everyone, Dad here back in town. I returned to work this week and will continue making the trip back and forth each weekend until Edward returns home. My work is still being really good about everything and is allowing me to work Monday-Thursday thus allowing me to have three day weekend here in Denver. Edward is doing ok overall. He's still back high flow and hasn't really been taking a lot from the bottle. But beyond that he is still gaining weight now 5lb. 9oz. and everything else look pretty good for now. He is growing so fast that it looks like they will have to move him out of his little baby bucket and in to a crib. Not a whole lot else to report. Please continue to keep Edward in your prayers. hey everyone! sorry again but I ended up staying the night at the hospital because Edward kept having bradys. they think it is reflux but if it continues they will have to do some blood work to see if he is sick so hopefully it is just reflux! speaking of reflux... Edward had some massive reflux yesterday afternoon and he spit up all over mommy! I guess that's just one of the many joys of being a parent! the results from Edwards tests are partially back and it looks like he is doing better than before producing his own hormones so now they are going to wait till next week and do it again and make sure his cortisol levels continue to improve! Edward is getting so big! he is now 16 inches long and 5 pounds 7 and a half ounces! Boy do they grow quickly! its hard for me to imagine how small Edward really was! well I'm gonna go I need to head back over to the hospital! Sorry again!

sorry everyone for not posting last night I came home from the hospital cleaned my room and crashed! I almost don't remember going to bed! any way Edward is doing about the same as yesterday he is up close to 40 on his oxygen. he is still 5 pounds 6 ounces. the only thing new today is that they are doing a blood cortisol test to see how he is doing with out the steroids for his lungs. they are also trying to find out if his pituitary is working right. so today was kind of a rough day for Edward. He started off the day @ 50 cc's of oxygen on low flow and by 5 o'clock he was u to 125cc's so now they had to put him back on high flow to give him a rest. So hopefully tomorrow he will be back to low flow. other than that we tried feeding him with the haberman bottle again and he did pretty well (18 cc's) so now we are bottle feeding him 3 times a day. He also gained alot of weight! he is now 5 pounds 6 ounces! well that's about it I will post pictures tomorrow night because I really need to get some sleep (I'm not quite over being sick and I haven't got much sleep lately so m not really getting better) well good night all! pray for Little E!

So today was Daddy's last day with Edward this week. He had to head back to Cheyenne and is possibly going back to work. we will find out tomorrow or Wednesday whether or not it is permanent. Other than that Edward had a really good day! Daddy feed him this morning and he took 11 cc's and when I feed him tonight he took 12cc's so overall not to bad! He also gained more weight he now weighs 5 pounds and 3 and1/2 ounces! I can't believe how big my little boy is getting! well that's about it! Happy mothers day everyone. Dad here, well I forgot to blog last night, sorry about that. Well we have some really good new to share with you all. Last night Edward was move to low flow oxygen, which is really exciting due to that is what he has to be on to come home. He has also made it to 5 lb. Our little Edward is getting huge. Hello everyone! so today was a really good day Edward gained a bunch of weight he is now 4 pounds 14 ounces.. almost 5 pounds!!! and he did really well with bottle feeding he took 11 ounces this morning and 14 ounces @ 8pm. He also got his weekly bath which he actually kind of enjoyed! Other than that not a whole lot of Edward news! Today was my Birthday and it was a really great day we ordered some pizza and played cards with some friends from Ronald Mcdonald house and then when I went in to the hospital @ 11 the nurses sang to me and Donna bought me a cake and a really cool book to keep track of all of Edwards medical stuff plus some gum and lotion and she had a little mini party all set up which was so sweet. well thats about it Im going to bed I will post pictures tommorow im completely exausted! Hello all, dad here. oh boy I don't know where to start. Well Edward is doing well, he took 17cc of milk this morning and 10cc this evening. Not much else to report on Edward. Misty still isn't quite back to feeling good. She was feeling a little better this afternoon and so we took advantage of donated Colorado Rockies tickets, which did not turn out to be a good idea. At first misty was enjoying getting some fresh air and some sun, but i think that we may have just bitten off more then we should off. So I put misty down for a nap and took of to Honda to get the power window that just stopped working on the way home from the game fixed. While waiting on getting the window fixed, I got the fun task of working with Pay pal and my bank's credit card fraud department. some how someone either stole or randomly generated my credit card number and then try to use it on pay pal and after that tried to make a 13 hundred dollar charitable donation. (which makes no sense.) thankfully only small pay pal charges went through due to them not having my correct expiration date. so to say the least we have had a interesting day.

so today was a really good day for Edward he took a bottle 3 times today and got a total of 42 cc,s all together. he also gained an entire ounce. he is now 4 pounds 8 and1/2 oz! well that's about it for him I on the other hand had a crappy day I went to the doctors and found out I have a UTI, URI, and Sinus infection. the good news is they say I can still see Edward as long as I wear a mask. well that's about it I need my rest! Goodnight all!!

Hello everyone, Dad here again. Mom hasn't really felt well today so I did Edwards cares and bottle feeding today. Edward did alright today, we has started feeding him twice every day. This morning Edward wasn't very awake and took 5cc from his bottle and this evening he took 10cc. beyond that there is not a whole lot to report. sorry I don't have any pictures for you tonight due to not being able to find the camera tonight. well I'm pretty tired so that is it for tonight. we will have pictures for you tomorrow.

so today was a really good day Edward took 25 cc's of milk from his bottle which is awesome because he only eats 35! hopefully he continues to do well with feedings and we can check one more thing off the list of things he needs to do to go home! other than that not a whole lot of new. Edward gained weight he is now 4 pounds 5 oz. meaning he gained 2 oz. since last night! well that's about it I'm off to bed! good night all! ~Misty

Quick update

Hello everyone, dad here again updating for mom. Everything is going really well. Edward has gained weight, he is now 4lb 3oz. Which means he gets to stay in his little bucket. Nothing else has really changed. Well that is about it for tonight. Please continue to pray for little Edward and also please pray for Misty's breast milk supply which has started to dwindle as Edward needs increase. Thank you all for your thought and prayers.

Hello everyone, Dad here with some pretty exciting news. Edward has now moved up to a open crib, or as I like to call it his very own baby bucket. He has done extremely well maintain his own body temperature and is still doing really well on his oxygen level. Although he did not do as well today with bottle feed as he has over the past few days. but he is still learning how to coordinate the whole sucking, swallowing, and breathing so we will won't count that against him. Well that about it for tonight. We will have more updates tomorrow.

hey! who turned out the lights?!?!

soo cute!

So today was a really good day! Edward made it over 4 pounds he is now 4 pounds 2 oz! they have also left his icolet open all day with the heat off to see if he is ready for an open crib and so far he has done really well! so we will see in the morning if he is ready! Edward is also doing well with feeding and took 10cc's today which is a little less than yesterday but he was really tired today because he had a blood draw and an eye exam right before he got to eat. by the way his eyes are looking OK they are still recovering and they will check them again in a week. well that's about it I will update more tomorrow!
